Call me late to the table. Here we are more than half way through the month of October and I haven’t wished you a happy Connected Educator Month.  In support of President Obama’s ConnectED initiative, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Technology announced last week that October is Connected Educator Month.

They write, “Throughout the month, educators will have opportunities to participate in online events, build personal learning networks, and earn digital badges by demonstrating technology skills.” The use of digital badges could be an effective way for educators to gain recognition in their efforts to improve learning. We’ve seen how effective digital badges can be in motivating and helping student’s track their own progress in Ascend Math.

We all know that the sharing of ideas, strategies and methodologies among dedicated educators is a proven technique. Today’s socially wired environment offers many more opportunities to do so.

In the next few weeks, we will be sharing strategies for tier 2 and tier 3 math intervention from several remarkably successful educators.  Be sure to include this blog in your efforts to stay connected.
